Our programs at Nuwa Arts

Explore the heart of Nuwa Arts where we empower Arabic-speaking artists and enrich Canada's cultural landscape. Discover how our multidisciplinary programs foster creativity, community, and cross-cultural dialogue.

Our program goals

The main goal of Nuwa’s programs is to create meaningful opportunities for Arabic-speaking artists to develop their work, connect with audiences, and be recognized as an integral part of Canada’s cultural landscape. Through our combined offerings—ranging from artistic labs and performances to literary events and community gatherings—we aim to support artists not only in producing work, but in sustaining their creative practice over time.

For the community, our goal is to make arts and culture more accessible, relevant, and reflective of diverse lived experiences. We strive to build spaces where stories can be shared across languages and backgrounds, fostering dialogue, belonging, and cultural exchange. Ultimately, we hope to strengthen both the artistic ecosystem and the sense of connection within the communities we serve.

The Permanent Book Fair is a recurring cultural space held on the third Friday of every month, dedicated to providing continuous access to Arabic books for audiences in Canada beyond temporary events. It aims to strengthen the presence and availability of Arabic literature while supporting writers and publishers through direct and sustained engagement with readers. As an extension of Nuwa’s broader cultural work, the fair transforms the book from a seasonal event into an ongoing presence in community life, fostering a culture of reading, identity, and meaningful cultural exchange.
